Published: 19/03/2023In the two weeks before Christmas we worked with SARA – Severn Area Rescue Association to help them paint their lifeboat station to give it a brand new lease of life!
SARA is a multi-disciplinary volunteer search and rescue organisation, and is the designated rescue service for an area of over 20,000 km2 on and around the Severn, being called primarily via HM Coastguard and the Police, also by Fire and Rescue or Ambulance Services. It provides:
• Inshore Lifeboat cover for large parts of the Rivers Severn, Wye, Usk and the Bristol Avon
• Cliff rescue, particularly for the lower Wye Valley climbing areas including Symonds Yat
• Mud rescue
• Swift water and flood rescue
• Land Search
Here is some of what the team got up to…
The David James team will be back at SARA again. We will be preparing ourselves to roll up our sleeves and get stuck into the next task that requires our help. To all the staff at SARA, see you soon and thanks for having us.
